How to enable Rolled Goods Rates in MyCarrier
Rolled Goods Rates need to be turned on per carrier before you can request them. Here is how:
- Go to your Carrier Credential Management page
- Find the carrier you want to enable and select "Edit"
- Open the "Advanced Settings" dropdown
- Check the "Enable Rolled Goods Rates" box (rating type should be set to "Class")
- Repeat for each shipping location that ships rolled goods
Once that is set up, you are ready to request a Rolled Goods Rate the next time you quote.
How to request and identify a Rolled Goods Rate
Requesting a Rolled Goods Rate follows the same LTL Quote Flow you already use, with a couple of extra steps:
- Start a quote and select a shipping location where Rolled Goods Rates is enabled
- Enter your quote details as usual
- Check the "Rolled Goods" box
- Enter your Square Yards value (it is also a good idea to include your NMFC and sub if you have them)
- Continue to "Select Carrier"
Carriers that are Rolled Goods enabled will show up with a distinct icon in the Quote Flow, so you can spot them quickly. It is still worth checking the rate response before you book, since these carriers respond with specific Rolled Goods accessorials that confirm you received a true Rolled Goods Rate rather than a standard one.
After you dispatch the shipment, MyCarrier will generate a BOL that includes the Square Yards value. If you need to adjust that value later, changes have to be made back at Quote Step 1.
Which carriers support Rolled Goods Rates today
Rolled Goods Rates are rolling out carrier by carrier. Right now, they are available with:
- Southeastern Freight Lines (SEFL)
- Xpress Global Systems (XGSI)
What to know before you book
Rolled Goods Rates are genuinely useful for the shippers who need them, but it is worth understanding where the feature stands today:
- It is available exclusively in the standard LTL Quote Flow, not through vLTL rates
- It is not yet available through the Order API or Rate API
- It supports Prepaid, Inbound, and Third Party rating types, but not Collect shipments at this time
- Quick BOL does not currently support a Square Yards input, though that may change based on customer demand
None of that changes the core value here: for shippers who regularly move rolled goods, having carriers rate off square yards from the start means fewer surprises between quote and invoice.
One more thing worth knowing: Rolled Goods enabled shipments can also be covered by Cargo Insurance through MyCarrier, so accurate rating does not have to come at the expense of protecting the shipment itself.
